Our Environmental Horticulture & Design students represent a wide variety of demographic backgrounds, ages, and career goals. A majority of our students are pursuing careers in the landscaping and horticulture industries, with several students actively pursuing their C-27 Landscaping License. You can use up to 3 years of Foothill College horticulture classes for the 4 years required to attain this license (at least 1 year must be hands-on under the supervision of a licensed landscaper).
Other students are pursuing careers in landscape design and architecture; nursery management; Integrated Pest Management; and more. Many of our students are considering career changes or are just taking classes for their own enjoyment and to advance their skills as gardeners. Some of our students are still in High School through the Middle College program.
Whether you are hoping to pursue one of our certificate programs or just take a few classes to advance your knowledge of plant science, gardening, and landscaping principles & best practices, everyone is welcome at the Foothill College Environmental Horticulture & Design department.
Our department offers two certificates:
Associate in Science Degree, Environmental Horticulture & Design
Certificate of Acheivement, Environmental Horticulture & Design
